YAY for LibraryThing! Now, I'll get to share the books I like best with anyone who cares. I care, and that's what matters! :) Toward the bottom right of my blog, you will see my LibraryThing with some of my favorite books.
I don't see myself using LibraryThing, personally, for anything other than reminding myself of the books that I read that I liked, but professionally, it could be interesting to patrons. On our website, we currently have a list for Staff Movie Picks. Basically, what we think are movies to watch. It's subjective, of course, but it gives someone an idea of what some library folk find to be good/enjoyable movies. This could be utilized on a children's or teen page on the library's webpage to share with our young patrons what we, as librarians, have read and have enjoyed. Since it's easy to create a badge (or rather, it was for me, because I could learn from Captain Rob and avoid the hassles he had), it could be updated regularly to give ideas to parents, kids, and teens on new books to read.
